VEDIC ASTROLOGY:
FINDING DHARMA
April 11 - 13, 2025 | Fri 5-9pm, Sat and Sun 11-7pm
Vedic Astrology is the term for Hindu astrology also known as Jyotish. Much like western astrology, vedic astrology is based on the belief that the planets and other heavenly bodies influence a person’s reality. Vedic astrology is based on the sidereal zodiac-observing the positions of planets in relation to the constellations. In contrast, western astrology utilizes the tropical/fixed zodiac. If you are attached to your western sign, get ready to shake things up and lean into your cosmic call…we will spend the weekend learning to work with the universe instead of against it!
Vedic astrology utilizes the same 12 zodiac signs as western astrology so some of the material will be somewhat familiar to you. The 12 zodiac signs are used in harmony with the five elements of nature and their impact on our body and its surrounding. Vedic astrology gives insight into your life events and fortune based on the theory of your karma as a soul and the position of the stars and planets at the moment of your birth.
Thousand of years ago vedic astrology was practiced and studied with the sister science of yoga, ayurveda. Through the combination of these practices, students could optimize health through awareness. Vedic astrology can be utilized for self study/svadhyaya, asana/movement, pranayama/breath and dyhana/meditation. Come to this weekend workshop with an open mind as we discuss, share and use practical application of vedic astrology in our search for dharma through the practice of yoga. Learn how to apply this knowledge and skill set to your own practice so that you can in turn open the door to your students.
Plan to dress in comfortable clothes that work in movement, meditation and in creative visual art. Students and teachers are welcome to attend this workshop. Instructors outside of the 300 hour teacher training, this workshop does qualify for 20 hours of continuing education through the Yoga Alliance. A quiz to discover your vedic sign will be sent out prior to the weekend as well as a list of helpful supplies.
