YIN YOGA:
GUIDING STILLNESS
January 24 - 26, 2025 | Fri 5-9pm, Sat and Sun 11-7pm
Spend a weekend exploring the internal doors we are able to open through the power and practice of stillness. Yin is a practice that allows us the space and place to stay in one shape for a longer amount of time in order to explore the physical, mental, emotional and energetic layers of self. Over the course of the weekend, Katie and Jolene will help you explore the history of yin, the traditional shapes and how to guide a group class.
No matter what your level of experience is, this weekend is sure to offer a unique insight into the practice of yin. As a society we hold so much value in the doing that we often overlook the necessity in moments of simply being and connecting. By learning more about the practice of yin, the traditional shapes, how to sequence, cue, guide and theme a class-you will walk away prepared to offer this experience to your students. We will guide you step by step through the why behind each shape from a physical, emotional and energetic perspective. The layers of exploration available to you and your students will make you fall in love with yin like never before!
Plan to spend a weekend expanding the scope of your own practice as well as learning how to confidently offer it to students. We will participate in a posture clinic to explore traditional shapes, discuss cuing, music and how to ground a room into stillness for minutes at a time. We will offer examples on how to best offer and use props as well as hands-on assist. The information shared is just as applicable to the longer yin style holds found at the end of a vinyasa class.
Plan to dress in comfortable clothes that allow you to move and meditate comfortably. Students and teachers are welcome to attend this workshop. Instructors outside of the 300 hour teacher training, this workshop does qualify for 20 hours of continuing education through the Yoga Alliance. Recommended reading will be sent out prior to training and a manual will be provided.
