KARMA RETREAT:
SHARING THE PRACTICE
SEPTEMBER 2024, DATES TBD.
Karma Yoga is referred to as the yoga of action. Only through action can we practice full detachment from the fruits of our actions and instead aspire to the liberation of all beings. Join us for a weekend getaway spent in action, community and nature. Katie + Jolene will lead a local weekend getaway in the charming town of Saxapahaw. Plan to dive deep into the farming life and to spend some time nurturing the shores of the Haw River!
The most clear path to our own dharma is in the service of community. Join us for this local weekend getaway spent working in the service of others and nature. It is easy to get pulled into the materialism and commercialism of the external world. Cleanse your intention and act in service outside of yourself as a kind reminder that we are part of a greater good. According to Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita: karma yoga is the spiritual practice of “selfless action performed for the benefit of others.”
Plan to step outside of your comfort zone as we help on a working farm and spend some time kayaking and cleaning the shore of the Haw River. This weekend will start with a welcome dinner on Friday night, a full day of service spent outdoors on Saturday, an evening in community, a Sunday morning service project, reflection on our weekend of action and a brief journaling assignment before the journey home.
This weekend is only open to those following the 300 RYT path. The cost of the retreat includes your stay on a working farm, a kayaking journey, dinner on Fri and Sat night as well as a light breakfast on Sat morning. More details on the agenda and what to pack prior to departure.
